??Sports and Exercise Medicine (SEM) is a medical specialty focused on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and conditions related to physical activity. Whether you're a high-performance athlete, an active student, or someone returning to exercise, SEM helps you move safely and perform at your best. It also plays a vital role in promoting health through physical activity, managing medical conditions that affect participation in sport, and guiding safe exercise in people of all fitness levels.

Acute Sport Trauma Programme
?If you are injured during a sports match, don't wait until the next day before seeking medical attention. Seek medical help immediately.
Our team is available on rugby match days to assess and treat injuries on the spot. You'll find us in the medical room of the Danie Craven Stadium?.
?Maties Injury Programme? ?
Are you a Maties High Performance athlete with a new injury from official training or competition??
Campus Health Service (CHS) offers a free injury screening to assess the problem and refer you for the right treatment if needed.
You'll only be charged for consumables and/or medicines (Ts&Cs apply).
PLEASE NOTE: This service does not cover old injuries, private training session injuries, or general illnesses.

- Download and complete the Event Medical Risk Assessment Form
- Send it to Cecil Adams at ceciladams@sun.ac.za
- We’ll do a free risk assessment and advise on what’s needed
- < 200 people: 2 weeks’ notice
- 200–1000 people: 1 month
- > 1000 people: 3 months
Maties First Aid Society
- ?A current, valid Level 2 First Aid certificate (South African qualification)
- Additional rugby-specific training will be provided
